Simply Borrowing Learner Personas From Marketing Won’t Work; Here’s What To Do Instead

Learnnovators, a leading e-learning company in India, has published “Simply Borrowing Learner Personas From Marketing Won’t Work; Here’s What To Do Instead” as the latest edition of their blog post.

In this article, Srividya Kumar, their Co-Founder, offers offers some advice on the fundamental differences between buyer personas (personas used in marketing) and learner personas (those used in L&D). She also offers a few suggestions on using learner personas effectively while designing learning solutions using an example!

Here’s an excerpt from the post:

“In L&D, personas are fictional learners that reflect real ones. We create them so we can better understand the aspirations and challenges of learners, and work towards creating a solution that better aligns with their needs. The term is borrowed from the world of marketing, which uses buyer personas. However, we’d do well to consider the implications for L&D and tweak it to suit our purpose, instead of adapting it directly from there.”
